From Page to Stage Essay Contest

We invite all students to participate in "From Page to Stage," a literacy project within TBPAC's Field Trip program designed to connect literacy to theater for young people. 2007-2008 From Page to Stage shows will be announced at a later date. Study guides for these performances include a special insert that teachers can reproduce for students. The insert includes questions that must be answered in short essay form. Younger students may submit art projects based on the book. To write an essay, students need to read the book associated with the performance.

Teachers should submit all essays by the deadline provided in the study guide. The "From Page to Stage" nomination committee selects essay winners for each show. Essay contest winners will be recognized from the stage before each performance and will receive a complimentary copy of the performance-based book, one of a similar nature or one by the same author. School media centers and teachers of the winning students each will receive a $25 gift certificate to a local book store.
