Orlando Ballet School at the Patel Conservatory

Orlando Ballet School (OBS) is the official school of Orlando Ballet, central Florida’s only fully professional resident ballet company. The company, under the artistic direction of internationally renowned Artistic Director Bruce Marks, performs throughout their annual season in downtown Orlando, in Tampa at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and tours nationally.

Orlando Ballet School has received international best school awards and is considered one of the finest classical dance academies in America. School alumni have won many major dance competitions and have gone on to dance professionally for companies, including American Ballet Theatre, Royal Danish Ballet, Paul Taylor Dance Company and Orlando Ballet. The technique taught imparts speed and lightness in the lower limbs while maintaining a classical port de bras in preparation for today’s dance marketplace. OBS has been accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 2000 and follows a strict syllabus and course of study through two divisions: the Enrollment Division and the Pre-Professional Division. Currently, OBS serves students at four locations: the Central location in downtown Orlando, the South and Seminole locations in the greater Orlando area, and at the Patel Conservatory in Tampa. All of Orlando Ballet School’s locations share faculty and have an intimate connection to Orlando Ballet’s company and staff.

OBS at the Patel Conservatory

Orlando Ballet School and the Patel Conservatory partnered in 2006 to bring the finest classical ballet training to all interested dance students in Tampa Bay. Classes are offered during the school year for children in grades Pre-K3 through 12. OBS at the Patel Conservatory accepts students of all levels, so no previous training is required. However, all students must take a placement class to determine their level of proficiency prior to registration. Beginning and intermediate ballet classes for Grades 9-Adult are also offered throughout the year. These classes are taught by OBS faculty members through the Patel Conservatory.
