Pre-Professional Division and Trainee Program
Patel Conservatory Youth Ballet (PCYB)
The program starts in the Young Children’s Division where children are placed by age (age 3-grade 2) and progresses to the Pre-Professional Division where students are placed by ability (grades 2-12). Each division has a sequence of levels carefully designed to meet the developmental and technical needs of students as they train to be serious ballet dancers. The technique taught imparts an American speed and lightness in the lower limbs while maintaining a classical port de bras in preparation for today’s dance marketplace. PCYB accepts students of all levels. No prior training is required; however all students must first take a placement class to determine their level of proficiency.
TRAINEE PROGRAM
The PCYB/Next Generation Ballet Trainee Program is geared for students in grades 8-12 who have the desire, commitment, aptitude and ability to pursue a career in classical ballet. Six hours of classes are offered six days per week, including rehearsals for bi-annual professional performances held at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to participate in Intensive coaching and prepare for serious ballet competitions. A homeschool option is available. Placement is by audition only. Please call 813.222.1263 for more information.
